Thanda Private Game Reserve is South Africa’s top award winning safari destination and is locatede in northern Zululand. The main lodge encompasses nine luxury bush villas which offer guests the epitome of self-contained privacy. Circular in structure and reminiscent of a traditional homestead against a hill, each of the villas boasts an extraordinary view of the surrounding game reserve. 220 m2 in size, each villa has its own spacious lounge area and master bedroom with inter-leading fireplace. A thatched outdoor game-viewing deck (sala) and infinity pool offer refreshing solace from the summer heat. Each of the villas has a full en-suite bathroom complete with an enormous oval shaped bath and indoor and outdoor showers. The villas are all equipped with private bomas for an intimate dining experience.

Should the urge arise to venture beyond your private retreat, the lodge’s public areas include a library, business centre, finely-stocked wine cellar and cigar bar, as well as a choice between romantic dining venues in the heart of the African bush.

Kids at Thanda
Kids of all ages are welcome at Thanda Private Game Reserve, and when they arrive at the Lodge or the Tented Camp, they will be invited to join the Thanda Bucks & Bugs Club.
The Bucks & Bugs Club
Bucks & Bugs is a great club for kids. On arrival, kids will be given a cool Bucks & Bugs bag. In it, they will find a special beaded broach which they’ll wear while they’re at Thanda so everyone will know they’re members of the club. Kids will also receive a welcome letter telling them where everything is, like the library and the swimming pool, as well as a colouring-in book, an animal and bird check list, a beading or gaming kit, Modeling clay and information on the Thanda Junior Rangers Course.

The Junior Rangers course is really exciting. Kids will be invited to complete the course during their stay by the ranger.

Lastly, a baby sitting service is available at a nominal cost. Due to our location, off-duty staff are used to care for kids.
