Some Facts About Timbavati Private Nature Reserve:
The Timbavati Private Nature Reserve (TPNR) comprises 53,392 hectares of private land adjoining the Kruger National Park (KNP). Since 1962, the Timbavati Association, a non profit organisation, has been dedicated to conservation by maintaining the biodiversity of species which would have continued to exist had man never encountered the land. Currently, there are over 40 mammal species in the Timbavati including the Big Five of Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant as well as 360 species of bird life.

Timbavati Association motto - To ensure the preservation of fauna and flora occurring on the privately owned farms which comprise the TPNR, for future generations. And to restore the land to those conditions which are believed to constitute its natural state, maintaining the mix and balance of species and processes, which would have been present had it never been subjected to the hand of man.

HowTo Get There:
5 – 6 hour scenic drive from Johannesburg. From Johannesburg follow the N12 which leads past Benoni, Witbank and Middleburg. Follow the signs and turnoff for Belfast. Take the R540 road through Dullstroom, Lydenburg and Ohrigstad. Proceed on the R36 over the Abel Erasmus Pass to Hoedspruit. Timbavati Gate is About half an hour north east from Hoedspruit.
